GreekLesvos has a special cultural wealth and history. Among the most important features of its culture is folklore art and traditional professions of which some are saved until today. On the island there is a great tradition in pottery. In Mandamados and Agiasos, you can find workshops belonging to families of potters with long history on this art. Clay jugs, plates, cups with ornaments with traditional motifs, but also modern compositions show the craftsmanship of their creators. In Agiasos you will also find many wood carving workshops where the olive wood, in abundance on the island, is transformed to works of art by the hands of experienced craftsmen. Another art that survives in many rural settlements is the traditional weaving, and the art of basketry which continues until today in Asomatos
