If you want to live a restful day in the sea, you can have an excursion by boat. You will have the unique opportunity to see the coastline of the island with its sea-side settlements, swim in remote beaches, explore sea caves and reach some of the islets around the island.
In the gulf of Gera you can use the traditional “gazolina” (an old type of boat) to travel from Perama to Kountouroudia and vice versa, or if you are in Plomari you can take a boat to the small church of Panagia Kryfti built in a rock next to the sea. There you can enjoy wonderful dives in blue green waters which in some parts are warm, as there are hot springs coming out of the rocks. If you want to combine pleasure with knowledge, in Sigri the Natural History Museum of Lesvos Petrified Forest organises boat tours with a glass bottom boat to the islet Nisiopi. You will get information about the natural history of the area and admire the petrified trunks found on the islet and at the bottom of the sea. Otherwise, you can take a boat from Petra and visit the opposite uninhabited islet of Ai Giorgis.
